Hair Update : Best Twist - Outs Ever?

Blessings and love beauties!!

This is another quick hair update to let you know what's been going on with my hair...

After my last wash day, I put in some twists and took them off the day after...
I was really pleased with the results and in fact, I concluded that this has got to be one of the best, if not the best twist - outs I've ever worn!!
I really like the definition and love how moisturized, smooth my hair was and I was really happy at how it wasn't oily or sticky at all!!
I also enjoyed how my hair was so pliable and has so much body and bounce.

I pinned back the right side and created a sort of side parting...

As a natural queen, if you are still battling with some styles and still trying to find the right products and method for them to suit your hair needs and personal preferences, all I can say if just keep on trying! You see, the thing about a natural hair journey is that, you really have to try lots of things before you get to a stage where you have mastered your hair - you know what it likes, you know how to accomplish the styles you want and which products to use at what time
So if you are still trying to get the perfect this or that...keep on trying, you will eventually get there.
As for me, I am still trying to master the styles I like to wear according to my own hair.
This twist - out is definitely a confirmation that I am not so far away anymore!

It was definitely a good twist - out day!!

Would you say you have mastered you hair yet?
What are your staple styles?

Hair Update : First Time Braid - Outs

Blessings and love beauties!!

I pray all is well with you and yours!!

Here's another quick Hair Update...

After doing all the washing last wash day, I decided to try something I've never really tried before :

Braid - outs

Yes, I have never worn a braid out.

I don't know but...I have always preferred twists/ twist - outs ... mainly because of the ease I guess...

So I put in 16 braids put on my satin bonnet scarf and went to bed.

On the next day, I took them down and .... loved it!!

Though I didn't get much definition, I liked the fullness that came with the braid outs and how my hair laid. In fact, I cannot easily wear my hair in this way with twist outs so it was sort of a first time wearing my hair like this...

I like the look a lot and I think I've become a fan of braid - outs but here's what I've learnt about braid - outs :

PROS

● gives a fuller look

● hair lies where you want it to

● stretches hair out more than twists

CONS

● takes about three times longer to do than twists

● takes about four times longer to take out than twists (I was in a hurry that morning so you can imagine...)

● it's harder to achieve good definition

But this was my experience with them and remember, it's my very first time so after playing with it a few more times...I'm sure I'll only master it...though I doubt I'll be getting used to the time it takes to put on and take out any time soon...

I wore this hair do all day and loved every minute of it...I did get some looks but what's new?
By the end of the day, by around 9 pm shrinkage had kicked in and it wasn't looking quite the same anymore ... but either way, that's the nature of my hair so I'm not even considering that!

Do you wear braid - outs?
If so, why are your experiences?
Any tips?

Hair Update : The Side Roll - DatFunkyFro Style!

Blessings and love beauties!!

I pray all is well with you and that you have had a wonderfully blessed  Thursday.

Well...this evening was marked as a day out with the girls on my calendar and as usual, after I'd picked everything I wanted to wear, my hair was the last on my list.

By the time I got to my hair, I was already running late.
I started out with an idea of what I wanted to do with it, but then I had absolutely no clue.
I went from an updo, to a side look, then an updo again before I finally came up with this.
This look had not been planned and looking back now, I laugh because I was practically rushing when I came up with it.

But...

I do like it...a lot!

Though I didn't get any compliment about it, apart from my lovely sister, I did get some major stares!
I really would like to rock this look again.
The simplicity is great and protection for my strands!
A keeper!

I call it my infamous side roll!

The evening was great and I had an amazing time thank God...
So the moral of the story is : we seem to be the most creative when we are lost for ideas and under pressure (pressure to do our hair) [+ roller coasters after teenage years are not so great (my sister learnt this the hard way today)].
I'm also going to take this opportunity to encourage you natural queens to be creative with your natural hair. Time and time again, we get to a spot where we have no clue what to do with our hair and even some sisters start to consider straightening or others...natural hair is so versatile...it's unbelievable
As I always say, if you are not having fun with your natural hair, then you are not informed and let me add this, it also means you are not being creative
It's great to try each other's styles but once in a while, let's bring out the creativity in us
...and this is coming from the chick who practically has zero creativity so if I can do it, so can you!

What are some of your signature styles?

Hair Update : Medium Twists - Outs

Blessings and love beauties!!

I pray all is well with you and yours!

I'm just passing by to bring you all a quick update...

Yesterday was wash day for me ... hours of treating and pampering my hair later, I decided to put in some  medium twists.

I initially did not know what I wanted to do with them - updo or twist outs - but since twists are presently my go to style, I decided to put them in.

To put in the twists, I only used my upcoming OMO OGO Naturals Avocado and Shea Hair Butter (by the grace of God) [so you can consider this as a sneak peek].

This morning, I decided on wearing a twist out.

I really didn't know what to expect because my hair can be a bit unpredictable when it comes to twist outs but I have to say, I am pleased with the results I got :

I pinned the left side back and wore a side bang...

I really like the definition of the twists and the amazing hold!

Are you a twist out diva or a twist queen?
